Generate your first palette in 30 seconds

The fastest way to get a feel for The Color Tools is the spacebar generator at /tools/palette-generator.

Step-by-step:

1. Open the generator. Five swatches appear, each with a hex code.
2. Press the spacebar. A new palette rolls in. Repeat until something catches your eye.
3. Hover a swatch and click the lock icon to keep it. Press spacebar again — locked swatches stay, the rest re-roll.
4. Drag a swatch left or right to reorder. Click a hex code to edit the color directly.
5. When you have a palette you love, hit "Save" (top-right) or "Export" to download.

That's it. From here, try the harmony rule selector (top toolbar) to shape the rest of the palette around your locked colors, or try the image-to-palette tool to extract from a photo.
