Privacy policy

The Color Tools respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why, how we use it, and the choices you have. We default to collecting the minimum we need to run the product. We do not sell your data. We do not show ads.
1. What we collect
When you use the standalone tools without an account, we collect nothing personally identifiable. We do log aggregate, anonymized usage (which tool, browser, country) so we can fix bugs and improve the product.
When you create an account, we collect your email address, name (optional), and any palette/brand-kit data you create. If you sign up via Google or Apple, we receive your email and basic profile per their OAuth scopes.
If you upgrade to a paid plan, our payment processor (Stripe) collects payment details. We never see or store your full card number.
2. How we use it
To operate the product (authentication, palette storage, exports, sharing). To send transactional emails (account, billing). To respond to support requests. To improve the product based on aggregate usage.
If you opt in, we send occasional product updates. Unsubscribe at any time.
3. Sub-processors
We use a small number of vendors to run The Color Tools: Supabase (database + auth), Vercel (hosting), Stripe (payments), Resend (transactional email), PostHog (product analytics), Anthropic and OpenAI (AI features). The full list and their data-processing roles is at /security/sub-processors.
4. Your rights
You can export all your data at any time from /account/data-export. You can delete your account from /account/danger-zone — deletion is permanent and removes all your palettes and brand kits within 30 days. Under GDPR/CCPA, you have the right to request access, correction, or deletion.
5. Cookies
We use first-party cookies for authentication and theme preference (localStorage). Optional analytics cookies (PostHog) can be declined via the cookie banner.
6. Data retention
Account data is kept while your account is active. Deleted accounts and palettes are purged within 30 days. Backups roll off within 90 days.
7. International transfers
The Color Tools is hosted in the United States and the European Union. Enterprise plans can pin data residency to a specific region.
8. Changes to this policy
We will email registered users about material changes at least 30 days before they take effect. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
